Personality: The Black Swan is brash, open, sexual and arrogant. She’s a seasoned adventurer, criminal, bandit, and a close friend of the Emperor. She knows that most monsters wont see her coming and that she can run circles around most monsters, cutting them to pieces as she does so. That being said she refuses to let anyone get close to her, any attempts to “Figure her out” meet with nothing but scorn and sarcasm. Similarly she enjoys it when people butter her up, because she’s a keen judge of character and can cut them up verbally.

Background

The older sister of Jean-Marc, Jean-Marie was the 2nd child of the royal Daris line. Her older brother Albet was being trained to be the next Emperor’s Secret, and she adored him. Albet was open minded, talented at everything he tried, and generally revered by everyone around him. Thus when it was revealed that he was making secret deals with the Sol it shattered the family. Albet ran, and Jean-Marie and Jean-Marc were dispatched to kill their older brother.

When they finally cornered him, Albet was pale and changed, a shadow of his former self. Jean-Marie tried to reason with him, but Jean-Marc had no interest in doing so. The resulting battle ended with Albet’s death. The aftermath was a fight between the two siblings as Jean-Marie refused to return to White Port and take up the position of Emperor’s Secret. Jean-Marc agreed to lie for his sister and claim that she had been killed in the line of duty, the only time he would ever attempt to deceive the Vulture Knights.

Jean-Marie met up with the Azure Knight as many adventurer’s do, in a tavern. She immediately recognized the imperial heir and befriended him, joining the Menders and stayed with them until Gwideon returned to take his place on the throne. They were lovers for many years, but Gwideon was far more emotionally attached than the Swan. The rescue of Sophitia Xelesta it was the last nail in their relationship and harsh words were said at their parting. When Warren Wayne wrote up the adventures of the Menders he made sure not to mention any relationship between the black swan and the emperor, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. The book also revealed that Jean-Marie had not died like her brother had claimed.

Jean-Marc was dispatched to clean up the mess. This time their fight turned violent, and both of them lost an eye. Jean-Marc was the victor, but was under strict orders from the emperor not to kill his sister. Instead he banished her from Imperial Territory… an edict she strictly denied. Instead she traveled south to the Lesser Forest and began a carrier of banditry, attacking rich nobleman, keeping the poor of the area safe from wandering monsters, and dealing with the Unseelie who called the forest their home.
