Elves

Elves are a race of humanoids originally from the continent of Gra (called Corellium in their time). Some elves still survive in Otep, though their numbers are low. Excluding the Drow, it is estimated that between 1000 and 2000 elves are still alive.

Common Features

All elves are slender in build and lack facial or body hair and have characteristic pointed ears. In addition, elves are very long lived, reaching maturity around age 110 and possessing lifespans in excess of 700 years. Elves do not sleep, however, they must spend 4 hours each day in a trance-like meditation.

Elves are typically between 4 1/2 and 5 1/2 feet tall, weighing 95 to 135 pounds. Most species tend to have green or brown eyes, fair skin, and dark or blonde hair.

Perhaps owing to their magical inclination, each elven subspecies has a natural affinity for a certain set of weapons, commonly the longbow, shortbow, rapier, and longsword.

Elven Subspecies

Gold Elves

Also known as High Elves or Carelllius Aurus, Gold Elves are native Kagamaro, though a sizable number had immigrated to Epistorium and mainland Otep by the time of The Devastation. Gold elves are the second most common subspecies in Otep, after the Drow.

Red Elves

Unlike most subspecies, Red Elves have a natural connection with magic, as opposed to a predisposition for learning. As their name suggests, Red Elves have hair colors primarily in shades of red, though they may have hair as dark as jet black. Red Elves are one of the best known varieties of Elves in Otep, due to the large numbers of them spread around the planet by the Laxo Normo.

Dark Elves

Most commonly known as Drow, the Dark Elves established a foothold in Otep long before the Devastation. Originally a slave caste in their home country of Kagamaro, a series of mass migrations beginning as early as two thousand years ago established a powerful Drow civilization underneath Otep. The events of the Devastation brought Drow civilization, like most others in the world, to its knees. The matriarchal society proposed a mass sacrifice of males to placate their godhead, Lolth, in response. This was met with open rebellion and a mass genocide of Drow priestesses and females in general. As a result, few pure-blooded Drow remain, with the species having largely interbred with the gnomes of Underport and created the Drome race.

Drow are smaller in stature than other elves, but sharper in mind. They have very dark skin, usually black, with pale hair that is predominantly white. Mostly due to their underground nature, the pupils of Drow eyes lack unique pigmentation, leaving them blood red.

Gra

Little is known about the Gra, save that they are the current residents of Old Corellium. They have been observed to display Elvish features and have been shown to be extremely aggressive. "Gra" is not an official name, but rather the only syllable they have been reported to speak. Gra are physically larger and more muscular than other elves, and seem to be genetically closest to Red Elves.
